My thoughts on Ashley Madison - the dating service for married people
I’ve been thinking about this for a while. Is it “morally right” to refer married people to a service that facilitates setting them up with other married people to have an affair? Specifically, I’m referring to the Ashley Madison dating service. Ashley Madison is a dating service that caters to married people looking to have an affair. As an occasional listener of The Howard Stern Show I kept hearing commercials for the service during the show’s commercial breaks. Months passed and I kept revisiting the idea of featuring Ashley Madison on The Sexy Housewife in some capacity so you guys could check it out. But I wasn’t sure if I was comfortable with the idea of letting people know about a service this unconventional. Over a period of a few months I weighted the pros and cons of featuring Ashley Madison at The Sexy Housewife. Eventually when I became comfortable enough with the idea I put a few links to Ashley Madison around the site. And I can’t say I’m surprised but people started clicking them. I weighted in the interest in this unconventional dating site with my own beliefs on the “sanctity” of marriage. Those beliefs of which can be summed up like this: the rules of marriage are different for each married couple. Some couples have really open relationships while others are completely devoid of sexual contact — and then you have everything in between. I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t my place to keep people from the Ashley Madison site or other services like it. On the contrary — it’s my job to let people know about interesting things and let them make up their own minds. Ashley Madison provides a niche service. And from what I can tell people are really into it.
So, there you have it. If you want to check out the Ashley Madison site you know about it now. You can make up your own mind about whether you think it’s right for you or not. I’m not married but I think it’s pretty interesting. I’d definitely love to hear from anyone who has used the service — especially if they hooked up with another married person.
